I downloaded this book for my Kindle then got distracted by other books and there it sat. What a shame, because this book does not deserve a back seat to anything! Once I finally came to my senses and picked it up, I literally couldn't put it down. Seriously. I flat out neglected my family for a whole day while I read this book. (My husband was there to pick up the slack for me, so no children were actually neglected during this time. *whew* Child services call diverted.)
A real-life Travis Maddox would have me appalled and discusted, mostly in his actions toward the women he slept with. But there is something in the way that Jaime McGuire wrote this character that opened up a soft spot in my heart for him. Don't get me wrong, there were many times in the course of the book that I felt he needed a good slap upside the head, but as I got to know him better, I got to see the caring man that he is, albeit maybe a little possesive.
The roller coaster of emotions I experienced throughout this book is unbelievable! I smiled, I laughed, I cried - right along with the characters. It truly touched me.
I think the only complaint that I can make about this book is that it ruined any book for me for some time after. I kept comparing them to Beautiful Disaster and they just didn't measure up.
Seriously. Read this book. You won't be disappointed - until it is over anyway, then you will want to read it all over again because nothing else will compare.
